Clearsite Solutions was appointed by Atlantic Plastics to carry out a complete internal strip-out and demolition programme. This included removing plasterboard partitions, M&E systems, a steel-framed structure, roller shutter doors, windows, doors, and flooring. The project also required the careful demolition of a single-storey extension while keeping the rest of the building operational.
The strip-out involved dismantling four roller shutter doors, which were carefully removed for potential reuse. All internal walls, mechanical and electrical installations, and floor coverings were systematically taken down and safely removed from site.
The most complex part of the project was the controlled demolition of an extension. Using a 360° excavator and dumper, our team worked with precision to protect the structural integrity of the retained internal walls. This approach allowed the building to remain fully operational during works.
A significant challenge was that the site’s main water feed ran directly through the work zone. This required detailed planning and strict safety measures. Our team prepared thorough method statements and executed the work with precision, ensuring that water supply to the site was not interrupted.
Working within a live building environment meant maintaining close communication with Atlantic Plastics’ management team. Careful scheduling and coordination helped minimise disruption to daily business operations, allowing staff to continue their work safely alongside our activities.
Waste management was another key part of the project. We processed 28 skips of material, segregating all waste at source in line with regulations. This ensured compliance with environmental standards and reduced the impact of the works on site.
Despite additional tasks being introduced late in the programme, the works were completed on time and to a high standard. The project demonstrated Clearsite Solutions’ ability to manage complex strip-out and demolition works in a live, operational environment.
