This unit required a complete strip-out, including full removal of wall linings, plasterboard walls, live cabling and associated boxings, suspended ceilings and four layers of floor coverings. If this unit was going to see continued use, it required complete gutting.

Retail park units can pose a variety of hazards if not correctly stripped and refurbished before use. In May 2022, our team got to work stripping the interiors of the CarpetRight store, Unit 7 on the Greenbridge Retail Park in Swindon.

However, as we began to strip back the wall linings, we knew this was a task of utmost emergency. The panelling revealed "dumped" asbestos from a previous fit out!

Sealing off the area, the main contractor arranged for specialist asbestos removal with immediate effect. This allowed us to safely attend to other project areas.

The team then planned for the careful removal of a heavy-duty air conditioning unit at least eight metres off the ground. Using specialist machinery and scissor lifts, our professionals safely removed the unwanted unit, completing the strip-out ahead of schedule.

The client is thrilled with the results. The unit owners are particularly pleased with our hassle-free approach and time savings. We’re equally pleased to have breathed new life into Unit 7, with the interior once again safe to fit out for a new store.
