Changing Rooms (In More Ways Than One!)

Abbey Woods Sports Centre

The Clearsite team is always happy to take on shorter deadlined challenges, and our recent strip-out project at Abbey Woods Sports Centre took some careful planning at speed.

This project required our experts to remove all ceramic floor tiling, benches and lockers across two disused changing rooms undergoing a refit.

While this was a straightforward clearout on paper, we were working in a high-temperature environment - next door to a swimming pool, no less!

Changing Rooms (In More Ways Than One!)

We, therefore, planned our breaks and shifts evenly amongst our team so that no one felt too overwhelmed working in the heat.

Dismantling fixtures and fittings was only one side of the project - we also needed to move and dispose of debris through the adjoining public facilities. Exceptional care around pool users - particularly children - was vital!

We worked swiftly and safely around the public, readying the site for refurbishment without incident - and within the client’s timescales.

Beard Construction, our client on the Abbey Woods project, is thrilled with the outcome - particularly praising our clear communication, self-management, and relationships with the centre’s staff and operators.

Says

Clearsite recently carried out site clearance work for Beard Construction on a swimming pool changing room refurbishment in a live public sports centre. The work involved stripping out all fixtures and fittings from the changing rooms and removing the waste through the clean and in use building, crossing paths with gym users and swimmers. The centre remained open and had frequent daily school children using the facilities, so careful coordination and safe working procedures around mem bers of the public, particularly school children was mission critical. Their work was carried out safely, promptly, and was well managed, keeping us on programme and maintaining excellent relations with the centre staff and building users.
