The Clearsite team recently undertook a full demolition and strip-out of Malvern Panalytical’s old storage unit, which meant a great deal of careful planning. The scientific instruments provider requested that we completely strip back their initial storeroom, which - as it turned out - needed a little more attention than anyone anticipated. Thankfully, we managed to save the day!
Our main focus was removing plasterboard stud partitioning and a timber joist and plasterboard ceiling. However, it was removing the stud partitioning that revealed a hidden problem. The whole unit was built with its ceiling bearing down upon the walls, and heavy air conditioning units were mounted idle without adequate support.
This meant we had to act fast and smart. We reacted immediately by supporting the ceiling and AC with props and gradually dismantled the bearing walls piece by piece.
With this quick thinking and precision, the team completed the demolition and strip-out within the project’s initial time frames.
